Which Dundon Muffler option is right for me?
Every driver has their own definition of “the perfect exhaust”, which is why you see so many options on our web site! In this blog we will be breaking down the differences between each of our mufflers to help you understand what their characteristics are. These descriptions will be targeted toward those 997, 991 and 992 GT3 and GT3RS vehicles equipped with our Street Headers, since the mufflers are typically ordered as a package.
Below you can see a drop down list of options in one of our exhaust packages:
All this information can be confusing, so read on for a more detailed breakdown!
There are four main muffler options. We will dig into specifics about each muffler below:
- — Loud Muffler (full 321 Stainless Steel construction)
- – Two options for tip color:
- - PVD Black (with rolled tips)
- - Raw Titanium (slash cut, thin-wall tips)
- — Quiet Muffler (full 321 Stainless Steel construction)

- — Loud Titanium Ultralight Muffler (full Titanium construction)
- — Quiet Titanium Ultralight Muffler (full Titanium construction)
- — Inconel Mini Crack Pipe
All of these options are designed to be used with valves, so your sport exhaust button retains its functionality.
Dundon Loud Muffler - 321SS
Our most popular option. Created to solve durability issues with OEM 997 and 991 center mufflers, this piece is the foundation for the current lineup of Dundon mufflers. Built entirely from 321 stainless steel for incredible durability and punchy tone, this line of mufflers earned the nickname “Lifetime” through hard testing with flawless results.
Technically, this muffler outperforms the competition across the board. Dual pathways ensure a drone-free experience when the valves are closed. The lower pathway utilizes full 3” internal tubing when valves are open, culminating in a 3.5” x-pipe to provide excellent power, increased thermal capacity and the crisp, clean Dundon sound we love so much. The x-pipe terminates in a three-stud flange, allowing for bolt-on tips to be fitted. We have two standard options: PVD Black-coated tips with a rolled edge, and raw titanium tips with slash-cut edges. There are optional “Nurburgring Quiet Tips” that bolt on and can reduce peak sound levels when needed.

Dundon Quiet Muffler - 321SS
Nearly identical to our Loud 321SS muffler, this muffler isn’t “quiet”. It’s “less loud”. Featuring a couple of specific modifications, this muffler is designed to limit the peak sound output of your Porsche (read: make it quieter on the race track). It sounds similar to the Loud muffler at low RPM, but as exhaust gas volume increases, the internal construction mutes sound waves with increasing efficiency. The internal x-pipe featured in our Loud muffler is perforated, scalloped and wrapped in special material to break up sound waves and drops peak sound levels by 5-7dB over our loud muffler. All of this sound reduction comes at a minimal difference in performance (approx 5whp on a car making nearly 500whp).
The Quiet 321SS muffler features the same tip options as the Loud 321SS muffler. For the “Ultimate Quiet Exhaust”, you can pair the Quiet muffler with our Nurburgring Quiet Tips.

Dundon Loud Titanium Ultralight Muffler
Built from a similar blueprint to the 321SS Loud muffler, but this time we utilized lightweight, thin-wall Titanium. The result is a stunning piece of engineering that weighs only 9 pounds! Compare this to the roughly 24-pound 321SS version. The other main difference is the sound the muffler produces. Since titanium resonates at a higher frequency, this muffler magnifies those higher frequencies and reduces some of the lower notes. This gives your GT3 or RS a more exotic tone at high RPM and actually produces a quieter experience in the cabin at lower, cruising speeds.

The other benefit of the full titanium construction is that the material is thinner. This gave us an opportunity to play around with ways to make the muffler louder and quieter. The overall feedback was that folks loved the higher pitch, but wanted a bit more volume at full throttle. Enter: the Inconel Loud Inserts (pictured below). Built from Inconel 625 (more on that in a moment), these inserts block the expansion chamber on the lower pathway, dramatically reducing the muffling effect. The combination of the titanium muffler with the loud inserts gives you the ultimate “have your cake, and eat it, too” exhaust. The quietest system we make at low-RPM, and one of the loudest when you mash the fun-pedal!

Inconel Mini Crack Pipe
Officially the loudest valved system we make, the “Mini Crack Pipe” is a valved version of the legendary “Crack Pipe”. Technically the Mini Crack Pipe is not a muffler, but a “muffler delete”. It screams like Porsche’s venerable 911 RSR race cars. Unlike most muffler deletes, the Mini Crack Pipe is precision engineered to make power (not lose it, as most do!).
Constructed from thin-wall Inconel 625 with tips integrated for strength, the mini crack only weighs 6lbs! Inconel 625 is a nickel-based super alloy known for its incredible strength and durability, especially under intense heat. The thin-wall material gives the Mini Crack its bark, and gives your 911 the signature “RSR’ scream.
BE WARNED! This exhaust is not for the faint of heart! With those delicious race car sounds you also get some undesirable traits (like drone at low RPM and vibration in the cabin), so you have to take the bad with the good.
Choosing the right Dundon Muffler depends on your driving style, sound preference, and performance goals. Whether you’re looking for a race-inspired scream, a refined yet aggressive tone, or a lightweight performance boost, there’s a perfect option for your Porsche.
Loud 321SS Muffler – The go-to choice for durability and aggressive sound, with a drone-free experience when valves are closed.
Quiet 321SS Muffler – Ideal for tracks with noise restrictions, maintaining performance with reduced peak volume.
Loud Titanium Ultralight Muffler – For those who want it all! Docile tones around town, maximum weight savings (only 9 lbs!) with an exotic high-pitched tone.
Quiet Titanium Ultralight Muffler – Lightweight and refined, offering a quieter experience without sacrificing performance.
Inconel Mini Crack Pipe – The loudest option, delivering raw, race-car-inspired sound with the lightest weight.
No matter which Dundon Muffler you choose, you’re getting precision engineering, performance gains, and the unmistakable Dundon sound.
