718 GT4 Development Thread


Hi Everyone,

Our development of the 718 GT4 platform continues as we eagerly anticipate its new parts in the coming weeks. We’ve now completed three YouTube videos chronicling our progress so far. The premise is to use the track, a pro driver and an amateur driver, and do our best to quantify the modifications we will do to the car to help make it faster. Given the shortage of track days due to COVID-19, we haven’t been able to get the car out on track as much as we’ve wanted to. We installed the E-motion Engineering Suspension Arms, Motion Control Suspension Dampers and AP Radical Brake kit in Episode 3 below.

 

As of October, we are now waiting on exhaust prototypes to arrive so we can get started on installing and testing. Below are some CAD videos that will hopefully hold you over until we can get our hands on the real thing.

718 GT4 headers have been asked about a lot lately. Ours are finishing up; race and catted, all OPF deleted and running a little different than most. We didn't pick the easy stock location for the header connection we made it as optimized as it can be giving us the freedom to make the primary and secondary lengths optimized. We put the catalyst is a place to maximize power production. And used 3" lower secondaries as this 718 is making power similar to a 991.1 GT3 and therefore needs the cross sectional area to breathe. 718 GT4 baseline Dynos. First plot is 718GT4 compared to a healthy 981 GT4. You can see how much power the 718 has everywhere. 2nd plot is the same showing 100whp at redline. Last plot is compared to a 981 GT4 with Dundon D4 package. Looks like the 981 guys should give us a shout... can't wait to see what we get out of the 718GT4. And before the Internet Dyno police start going crazy. The new SAE standard for the OEM's is to hold the car at revs for a few seconds and then move on to the next rpm. So the engines get quite hot. It's why the 2020 Corvette showed higher values on a chassis dyno than the SAE rating. The splitter and Verus Swan Neck Wing are also on the way, so along with the exhaust, we will have this baby singing in no time. We’ve fixed the spring rates to our liking, and now it’s just a matter of when we can get the GT4 back on the track to start testing again. Until next time, stay tuned!
